Congregation Adath Jeshrun is established.

Formed by members of Congregation Beth Israel of the North End who have moved to Roxbury, it meets initially at the Dudley Street Opera House at 113 Dudley Street. It moves to 320 Blue Hill Avenue in 1900, to 401 Blue Hill Avenue in 1906, and then to 897 Blue Hill Avenue. The congregation is dissolved in 1967 and its last building is sold for use as a church.
